News That Matters

Health

Want to live forever?

Well, we might be able to give you a few extra years at least. 😁

Lucky for you, all it will take is just a few changes to your daily life. According to a major study in Circulation, five habits can increase the life expectancy by more than a dozen years.

So if you want to live long enough to see if Elon Musk reunites with his Tesla on Mars one day, following a healthy diet, controlling your weight, doing regular exercise, drinking in moderation and not smoking can all help you get there.

For more about the study, check here.

Wealth

Speaking of Elon Musk…

If you’re looking for advice on how to be more productive, it’s probably wise to listen to one of the wealthiest and most creative men in the world.

Elon Musk doled out some tips on how he manages to stay on top of everything he has to do, and most of his tips are all about simply not adding to your list of things to do.

Musk advises skipping excessive meetings and being more direct. That means dropping jargon and ditching the old “chain of command” and speaking directly to whoever it is you need to speak to, regardless of position or hierarchy.

Check out more of Musk’s tips here.

Wisdom

Don’t play with your food … unless you’re explaining complex neuroscience.

A postdoc using the name ‘the_sushi_scientist’ on Instagram is using the delicious Japanese meal as a way to display how the brain works. Using this interesting mode of presentation, he explains things such as what dopamine receptors look like and how vision works. 🍣 🧠

His posts are informative and make us want to visit our favorite sushi shop.

Tech Trends

Matt Damon, is that you?

NASA is sending a new spacecraft called InSight to Mars this weekend. The unmanned InSight will monitor for marsquakes and search deep within the planet for evidence of water.

InSight is scheduled to launch on Saturday and land on Mars Nov. 26, when it will join other Mars rovers such as the Curiosity Rover and the Opportunity Rover.

The New York Times created an augmented reality experience to allow curious readers to learn more about the exploration of Mars. Available here.

Marketing Trends

AI is invading the marketing world:

With technology like language monitoring, companies are using AI to monitor social media and parse the language people are using in relation to their brand — and that of competitors. With this information, they can better tailor marketing to customers.

“Marketers have also been using AI to drive engagement throughout a customer’s journey online, as the technology has immense potential to improve the relationships customers have with brands. According to an independent marketing study, 54 percent of marketers have used AI to personalize the customer buying experience and understand customer behavior over a variety of digital platforms, and 52 percent have used it to manage customer relationships in real-time.”

Results have been positive, so get used to having more and more conversations with Chatbots.
